What We Believe

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." 2 Corinthians 5:7

Core Beliefs

THE BIBLE IS INSPIRED
The Bible is God's Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit (inspired). It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is the truth without any mixture of error.

ONE TRUE GOD

God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three personalities: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God.

JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD

We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with God the Father. Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, performed miracles and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after 3 days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven's glory and will return again someday to earth in power and glory to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

THE FALL OF ALL MANKIND

People are made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character - good and upright. People are the supreme object of God's creation. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, all of us are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called "sin." This sin separates people from God and causes many problems in life.

SALVATION OF MAN THROUGH FAITH

Salvation is God's free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by repenting of our sins and trusting in Jesus Christ as God's offer of forgiveness, can anyone be saved from sin's penalty of spiritual death. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into their life by faith.

THE ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH

Baptism by immersion - to declare to the world that they have become a new person in Christ.
Holy Communion - The Lord's Supper, consisting of the elements --bread and the fruit of the vine-- is the symbol expressing our sharing the divine nature of our Lord Jesus Christ, a memorial of his suffering and death, and a prophecy of His second coming, and is enjoined on all believers "till He come!"

THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND SPEAKING IN TONGUES

The Holy Spirit is co-equal with God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son of God. He is present in the world to make mankind aware of their need for Jesus Christ. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is given to believers who asks for it. The baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues - we believe the gift of a spiritual language is a privilege available to all believers.
The Holy Spirit provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and guidance in doing what is right, he gives every believer a spiritual gift to be used for ministry. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily.

DIVINE HEALING

By Jesus dying on the cross and rising again, healing of the human body is provided in answer to believing prayer.

ETERNAL LIFE

People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation, to be forever in union with God in eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.

THE BLESSED HOPE

Both the saved and the unsaved will be resurrected. When Jesus returns at the second coming, the saved whose bodies have died will rise with the saved who are still living. This is known as the rapture. In a separate event, there will be a final judgment in which those resurrected whose names are not written in the Book of Life will be delivered to everlasting punishment.
